What Lokal keeps, why, and who can see it. Last updated 12 September 2026.

The short version

Lokal is a till and stock book for small shops. It keeps what a shop needs to sell, count stock and see what it made, and nothing it does not need. We do not sell information about you or your shop to anyone, and we do not show advertising.

What we keep about you

What we keep about a shop

Everything the shop puts in: items and prices, stock counts, sales and refunds, customers and their orders, suppliers and deliveries, and the people who work there. This is the shop’s own record. It belongs to the shop, and the shop’s owner can ask for a copy of it or for it to be deleted.

Who can see what

Where it lives

Lokal’s data is stored with Supabase in the European Union (Frankfurt). Sign-in codes by SMS are delivered through AfroMessage, an Ethiopian SMS provider, which sees your phone number and the code and nothing else. Sign-in with Google is handled by Google under Google’s privacy policy. The app itself is served by Vercel.

What we do not do

Your choices

You can change your name and language in Settings. A shop owner can remove staff, and can ask us to export or delete the shop’s data. If you want your own account removed, write to us and we will do it. A record of sales you rang up stays with the shop, because it is the shop’s sales record, but your name is taken off it.
